Sarah Phillimore represented the applicant mother who objected to the medical transition of her daughter, who wished to transition to be seen as male. The court was willing to prevent medical transition until the child was 16 and then held that section 8 of the Family Law Reform Act 1969 allowed the child to consent to treatment as if an adult. The mother has applied for permission to appeal.
