Fran D'Argenio

Mediation

St John's Chambers - Cross Garnet Rouge

Francesca is a barrister with a broad business and property practice.

Francesca accepts instructions across the spectrum of business and property work, including wills and trusts, 1975 Act claims, commercial and insolvency, landlord and tenant and real property matters. She has drafted and provided advice across the same range, including in building and consumer disputes and wills and trusts.

Her court work includes interim applications for relief from sanctions, setting aside of judgment and strike out/summary judgment, allocation and other procedural matters, final hearings and trials up to the multi-track.

Francesca is trained as a mediator and accepts instructions to attend mediations, both as counsel and mediator.

Francesca’s recent work includes:

  • Defending a proprietary estoppel claim brought against the executor of an estate at a two-day multi-track trial;
  • Opposing an application to set aside a statutory demand worth £3m;
  • Advising a potential beneficiary under intestacy on the prospects of establishing, using early twentieth-century public records, that they were a cousin of the whole blood of the deceased.
  • Pro-bono advice via Advocate on the prospects of an appeal to the High Court in a landlord and tenant dispute.

Francesca is detail-oriented and thorough. She provides clear, pragmatic advice from the outset of her involvement in a case.

Prior to pupillage Francesca most recently worked at a Bristol firm, in their Landlord and Tenant litigation team. She has volunteered at the Bristol Law Centre where she represented appellants in the Social Security Tribunal.

Francesca studied English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford before completing an MPhil in Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Cambridge. She enjoys long-distance running, reading, and cryptic crosswords.
