Charity
St John’s Chambers firmly believe in business giving back to the community and support local charities by hosting fundraising events and seminars. As a result we have raised significant funds for national and local UK charities.
2025 fundraising included:
- Our money conference raised £650 for Advocate
- Elaine Jewell-Moore raised a total of £1,582 + gift aid of £205 for Cancer Research UK where she pledged to walk 60 miles with their canine friend.
- Jack Harris took on the Men’s Walk to Support 2025 challenge and raised over £1,400 for Dorothy House Hospice.
2024 fundraising included:
- Our clinical negligence conference raised ££672.66 for the Great Western Air Ambulance from the raffle organised on the night.
- Our catastrophic injury conference which raised £1,040 for Headway, Bristol.
- Our Fireworks display raised £1,483 for the Child Brain Injury Trust.
- Sarah Sands ran the London Marathon and raised over £2,200 for The Children’s Society
- We raised £250 for Comic Relief by hosting a tiddlywink competition and bake sale.
- Over the Summer Olympics, our members and staff walked, ran, cycled and swam the distance from our offices in Bristol to the cities hosting the summer Olympic games in France, roughly 2,595km . Our aim was to raise money and awareness for Bristol Mind. We managed to complete 2,696.3 km and raise £1120 for Bristol Mind.
2023 fundraising included:
- A clinical negligence conference which focused on obstetrics raised £1,500 for Bliss, supporting parents and families of premature or sick babies.
- A catastrophic injury conference on 9th November which raised £1,500 for Headway, Bristol.
- Organised a bake sale in aid of World Down Syndrome Day which raised £96
- Elaine Jewell-Moore took part in the 58 mile walking challenge in February raising over £695 for Refuge.
2022 fundraising included:
- A charity golf day on 28th September at the Bristol Golf Club, raising a fantastic sum of £3,000 for Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA) who celebrated their 40th anniversary last year.
- A catastrophic injury conference on 19th October which raised £2,500 for the Backup Charity.
- A charity dinner on Thursday, 26th May at the Bristol Harbour Hotel, raising a fantastic sum of £5,700 for Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA)
- Members and staff walking, running and cycling the equivalent distance of St John’s Chambers Bristol office to Mariinskyi Palace (the official residence of the Ukrainian President) in the centre of Kyiv, and raising £6,258 for the Ukraine Appeal
In addition, Barristers and members of St John’s staff continue to engage with other community initiatives such as the 10k Bristol Business Challenge, Taunton Dragon Boat Race and London Marathon.
